Specialty cable categories and uses

Special cable is a series of products with unique properties and special structure. These cable are with a large number of ordinary wire and cable. They have a higher technical content, more stringent conditions of use, smaller batch size, higher value-added features. 1, Environmentally Friendly Cables

Environmentally friendly cable is also known as environmentally friendly cable, etc. It is the world today vigorously promote the new cable varieties, which is characterized by product manufacturing. This cable will not produce environmental pollution and harm to human beings.

The main requirements for these cables are: flame retardant, halogen-free, does not produce toxic and corrosive gases. Cables containing halogen and heavy metal chemicals will cause harm to air, water quality and soil.

2, Flame Retardant Low-smoke Halogen-free Cable

PVC insulated cables will emit black smoke when burning, and contains toxic, corrosive hydrogen chloride gas. It will directly jeopardize human life and health safety. Many PVCs also contain heavy metals and other hazardous substances such as organotins, lead, cadmium and phthalates.For the use of low smoke halogen-free cable in the air requirements are:
a, Flame retardant, low smoke, low toxicity or non-toxic gas emission when burning
b, Combustion only emits low corrosion, non-corrosive gases or heavy metals
c, When used in high-temperature environments, no harmful gases are emitted when the thermal decomposition temperature is reached.
d, The cable is non-toxic and harmless in contact with human body.

These requirements are the most basic requirements for human living space. For example: ships, aviation spacecraft, mines, vehicles, subways, tunnels, underground shopping malls, power stations, substations, petrochemicals, airports, high-rise buildings, communication facilities, utilities, hospitals, schools, entertainment venues, etc.,

Here the cable is characterized by: Halogen-free,

a. does not produce harmful halogen gases when burning 

b. does not contain lead and other heavy metals

c. does not pollute the soil, less smoke when burning,

d. does not produce corrosive gases as well as flame retardant and so on.

3, Fire-resistant Low-smoke Halogen-free Cable

Ordinary PVC insulated and sheathed fire-resistant cable, although the fire can be maintained for a certain period of time energized, but will still release a large amount of toxic and corrosive black smoke and gas.

The fire-resistant low-smoke halogen-free cable in addition to the characteristics of low-smoke halogen-free, in the fire can also maintain a certain period of time energized, and will not release toxic and corrosive gases.

Fire-resistant low-smoke halogen-free cables still use mica tape as a fire layer, all structural materials have certain fire-resistant properties as well as low-smoke halogen-free characteristics.

4, Waterproof Cable

According to statistics, directly buried high-voltage cable failure causes and its proportion of: 53% of the water tree, man-made damage 19%, 14% of natural damage, 10% of poor manufacturing, poor construction 2%, 2% of unknown reasons.
There are two main ways into the water:

1.  Along the conductor of the longitudinal water,

2. The extrusion of the cladding (insulation, semiconductor masking layer and outer sheath) between the radial and longitudinal water, of which radial water is more common.

Longitudinal water ingress is mainly in the cable manufacturing process, improper sealing between the conductor and the lead or insulation holes in the water cooling section into the water. Holes in the extruded sheath allow water to meter into the cable and spread radially and longitudinally. During storage, if the cable head is not properly sealed, rainwater can soak into the cable, and water can spread along the cable as it spins around the cable tray today. During laying, after the cable is cut, if the cable is dragged through a water-filled cable trench without end sealing, a lot of water will enter the conductors. As for radial water ingress, basically in the laying or after the laying of the cable sheath breakage caused.

In the waterproof problem, people are still mainly from the insulation materials, extrusion process and cable structure to improve the three aspects: one is to improve the insulation materials, the development of materials that can inhibit the tree branches; the second is the use of internal shielding, insulation and external shielding three-layer co-extruded process, so that the three layers are tightly coupled; the third is to take waterproofing measures in the structure of the cable to stop the external moisture invasion of the insulation.
