Understanding XLPO Cable
1. What is XLPO Cable?
XLPO (Cross-Linked Polyolefin) Cable, is a cable with XLPO as the insulation sheath. The XLPO material is a thermosetting material made by cross-linking polymers of various polyolefin monomers such as ethylene and propylene.
XLPO vs. XLPE
XLPO material is a board category. XLPE is a type of XLPO, and XLPE is a cross-linked product made from ethylene.
2. Characteristics of XLPO Material Cable
Electrical Performance:
- Breakdown Voltage (20℃): 50 kV/mm
- Specific Volume Resistivity (20℃): 10¹² – 10¹⁶ Ω·cm
- Dielectric Constant (50Hz, 20℃): 4-6
- Dielectric Factor: 2×10⁻³
Thermal Performance:
- Working Temperature: Up to 150°C
- Flame Resistance: Flammable (but better than traditional materials)
- Halogen-Free: Yes
Mechanical Performance:
- Tensile Strength (N/mm²): 12.5 – 20
- Elongation at Break (%): 300-400
- Shore Hardness: 40-45 (D)
- Corrosion Resistance: Medium
Weather:
- Weather Resistance: Good
- Cold Resistance: Good
XLPO material has excellent temperature resistance, which can reach 125℃, 150℃. It is resistant to oil, acid and alkali, and has high abrasion resistance and high mechanical properties.
This material does not contain halogen, so it will not produce toxic gases when burned, which has an advantage in safety and environmental protection.
This material is often used in the manufacture of high temperature resistant electronic wire, new energy vehicle cable, EV charging pile cable, photovoltaic cable and other high quality cable materials.
